MEET SCHOLAR NOAH
Among the first batch of students selected to complete the Teesside Clean Energy Technician scholarship at Redcar and Cleveland College , Noah Jimson has completed his first year .
We caught up with the 17-year-old from Middlesbrough to find out about his experiences so far .

Why did you apply for the Teesside Clean Energy Technician scholarship ? “ I saw the scholarship as a great opportunity towards learning the engineering trade and , of course , getting the chance to work with such a big name as bp .”
What have you got out of the course so far ? “ I ’ ve gained a good knowledge on mechanical engineering and completed multiple assignments in the workshop , working with lathes and lots of basic tools .” machinery that I wouldn ’ t have an opportunity to work with on lots of other courses .”
What does it mean to you to be working alongside bp ? “ It means a lot to have such an impressive company in my corner . I ’ m learning the trade and backing from bp has brought many experiences I would never otherwise have had , for example , meeting the then prime minister Rishi Sunak .”
Why is it important to build skills in low-carbon and cleanenergy ? “ As the world develops , having these skills is essential for the work I want to do in the future , as I would like to work in clean energy when I gain my qualifications .”
What did you want to do when you were at school ? Was this always the plan ? “ I never really thought about it through school , but when I found the scholarship , I took the opportunity and applied .”
What has been the best experience ? “ I have really enjoyed working inside the workshop and completing tasks with
