E xciting careers in clean energy are moving a step closer for students at Redcar and Cleveland College .

An additional 20 young people have now joined the college ’ s Teesside Clean Energy Technician Scholarship , a two-year study programme for school leavers backed by energy giant bp .
Bringing the total number of students on the programme to 40 , the college ’ s head of construction , engineering and service industries , Emma Booth , said : “ We are excited to have been able to offer this incredible opportunity to more young people .”
Developments in cleaner energy are making waves in the Tees
Valley and this course looks set to help students on their way to highly skilled , well-paid careers .
With plans to develop innovative new projects in Teesside , bp is investing in young people , working with the college to provide the training and qualifications needed for the jobs ahead .
The scholarship also comes with a term-time allowance .
Sarah Ryan , bp ’ s social performance advisor for the UK , said : “ Teesside has the potential to become a world-class , lowcarbon energy hub , but needs the talent and skills to do so .”
Giving young people these skills could help the region for decades to come .
