NEW DEVELOPMENT COULD CREATE 50 JOBS
Up to 50 new jobs could be created in Hartlepool, with the release of two new office buildings with production areas which are for sale or rent.
More than 11,000 sq ft of modern, high specification office and production or storage space in units are now available at Rivergreen Business Centre in Queens Meadow, Hartlepool.
The buildings are designed to suit a variety of businesses which require high quality office space with a significant research, development, manufacturing or storage element.
Current tenants include awardwinning medical diagnostic specialist Hart Biologicals, rapid tooling and plastic injection moulding manufacturer Omega Plastics, Dutch-owned Applus RTD which provides non-destructive testing( NDT) services to the oil and gas and nuclear industries, and LabShop which manufactures, assembles and distributes laboratory consumables.
A 60-year-old artisan bakery which branched out into creating the perfect portion of fish and chips just four years ago has scooped a regional accolade.
Mary Lambert, in Hartlepool, won the Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year Award after being voted top fryers by members of the public.
It beat of stiff competition from dozens of other eateries – including established sole trader chippies – in the Teesside and East Durham region.
Owners, father and daughter team Eric and Phillippa, say their secret is using only freshly caught fish, along with a special recipe batter.
Eric said:“ We’ ve only been doing fish and chips for four-and-a-half years and we’ ve come out on top – we’ re very very pleased.”

A Tees-based recycling specialist has created 30 new jobs as it continues to expand.

The recruitment increases the workforce at the award-winning business – which was last year shortlisted for North East Business of the Year thanks to its innovative Zero Waste to landfill campaign – to 210.
