Andrew Carr, Dodds Brown A Teesside-based commercial property consultancy has appointed a new facilities manager.
Andrew Carr joins Dodds Brown with more than 20 years’ experience in the same role with the British Army, UK Government and a large education centre.
The 43-year-old – pictured( above centre) with Stephen Brown( left) and Richard Wilson – will work closely with Mr Wilson, the firm’ s senior associate partner and head of property management on all the maintenance aspects of the £ 70m property portfolio which Dodds Brown presently has under management.
The Hartlepool-based firm has appointed Kyle Crosby, 18, as apprentice tax technician, in the firm’ s tax team.
Kyle completed his A levels this summer at Hartlepool Sixth Form College and has joined Waltons Clark Whitehill to work alongside George Hardey, director and head of tax at the firm and other members of the tax team.
Jack Butler 16, a former English Martyrs School student completed his GCSE’ s this summer and has now joined the firm as an apprentice within the payroll and business administration department, which is managed by Shirley Lamb. Jack will be working towards a diploma in Payroll.
Mark Roddy, Francis Brown Engineering and fabrications business Francis Brown has broken tradition by appointing its first leader outside of the family as the firm continues to expand into several markets.
New managing director, Mark Roddy, is the first non-Brown to be at the helm of the Stockton-based family run company in 113 years of trading.
Mark – pictured above( centre) with Simon and Jamie Brown – has a wealth of experience in global markets, having previously been responsible for driving quality whilst maintaining the highest standard of health and safety at Aker Solutions in Malaysia and, most recently, MHWirth in Norway.
His career started in the UK where he worked for BEL Valves, in Newcastle, and Harkers Engineering – at the same site now occupied by Francis Brown.
Karen Young, Macks Solicitors Tees-based Macks Solicitors has strengthened its successful family law team with the addition of vastly experienced chartered legal executive Karen Young.
Karen, 52, has spent her entire 33-year career to date with what is now Newtons in Darlington.

Adele joins as associate director at the firm’ s Preston Farm office in Stockton to deal with a growing demand from clients based both locally and nationally.
Adele, from Darlington, has over 15 years’ experience working in established legal practices throughout the North East and has specialised in residential conveyancing throughout her career.
She qualified as a licensed conveyancer in 2012 and has previously managed residential conveyancing teams handling volume conveyancing work for a number of large national panel referrers and lenders.
Adele specialises in all aspects of residential conveyancing including help to buy, shared ownership, right to buy, transfers of equity, re-mortgages and dealing with complicated leasehold properties.
Ray Shephardson, VIA Creative Teesside based brand, design and web agency VIA Creative has recently appointed a new member of staff as it continues to expand.
VIA, which is based in the Cargo Fleet Offices, Middlesbrough, is a close-knit team of creatives and has been producing brands and developing bespoke websites since their formation in 2003.
Now on the back of two recent recruits, VIA has added to their team by appointing Ray Shephardson as marketing manager.
Ray has been brought in to help boost VIA’ s sales and marketing efforts as the agency gears up for 2017 being its best year to date.
