A former UK Columnist of the Year and North-East Journalist of the Year, he received an MBE for services to journalism. It was his idea and he now co-owns the magazine’s company, Resolution. Aycliffe- born Martin started out the Gazette, worked at Middlesbrough FC and Sunderland AFC.
