Gary Riches, Hartlepool College Hartlepool College of Further Education has appointed Gary Riches as head of apprenticeships, coming full circle after completing his award-winning apprenticeship with the organisation over 18 years ago.
The college first allowed Gary to start his career as an apprentice electrician in 2000, when he was employed by Tees firm Gus Robinson Developments.
As head of apprenticeships, Gary’ s main task is to oversee the transition from apprenticeship frameworks to the new standards brought in with the introduction of the levy.
Diane Hodgson, Davies Tracey Accountants Stockton-based Davies Tracey Accountants has appointed Diane Hodgson to the practice as client partner.
Diane – pictured with the firm’ s managing director Craig Davies – has over 30 years’ experience in senior management roles working for accountancy firms in the region including Baldwins and Vantis.
This is a new role for Davies Tracey which employs 27 staff at its Teesdale offices in Stockton.
Diane will manage a portfolio of manufacturing, professional services and small business clients to support their accountancy needs and act in a business advisory capacity to help sustain businesses with current challenges as well as growth ambitions.
Paul Brooks, Pickerings Lifts Pickerings Lifts has appointed a new customer service director.
Having been promoted from within the business, former head of divisional operations, Paul Brooks, has stepped up to the new role.
Paul will be responsible for lift maintenance and repair and escalator business units, focusing on customer retention, business growth and driving forward service support.
Paul joined Pickerings Lifts in October 2014 after four years as regional director for Schindler UK and two years as national operations manager at Safe Elevator Services.
New apprentices, Coast & Country Coast & Country is supporting its future workforce with the introduction of four new apprentices to its team.
Lewis Peacock, 24, is joining the housing provider as a business administration apprentice, Cory Kernan, 18, and Sadie Wheeler, 26, as housing apprentices and Liberty Cottle, 16, is starting a finance apprenticeship.
Lewis, Cory and Sadie all received support from Coast & Country’ s New Directions Team, which is part of the Youth Employment Initiative, funded by the European Social Fund.
The scheme works with businesses and young people aged 15 to 29, who are not in education, employment or training, to source jobs, traineeships, apprenticeships and work placements.
Michael Hayward, Greenbank Waste Solutions Middlesbrough-based Greenbank Waste Solutions has welcomed Michael Hayward to its ranks, with specific responsibility for the firm’ s health and safety policies and procedures.
Michael has joined the firm as SHEQ( Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) and
compliance manager, joining the firm from electrical contracting company Groestar.
His appointment follows Greenbank’ s 72 sq m office expansion at its Middlesbrough HQ, which houses a full production workshop.
The company has now extended its workforce by over 20 % in the last eight months as Michael becomes the sixth employee to join Greenbank during its latest recruitment drive.
Zoe Traherne, InBond Zoe Traherne has joined logistics specialists InBond as business development and marketing manager, bringing with her experience of establishing her own business.
The appointment rounds off what has been an extensive period of growth for InBond over recent years with full-time employment increasing by 77 % and annual turnover by 92 % since 2014.
Having recently taken over further warehousing space at their Northshore site, InBond say“ the time was ripe” to further the firm’ s brand awareness. It will be Zoe’ s role to engage with more local, regional, national and international markets.
Nomi Ahmad, Sembcorp Utilities One of Teesside’ s most influential industrial businesses has a new man at the helm.
Nomi Ahmad has been appointed head of Sembcorp’ s newly-created UK and Europe business, which includes the Wilton International-based industrial utilities and services provider Sembcorp Utilities UK.
Ahmad, 48, has been with Sembcorp Industries for four years, most recently as a senior manager of the group’ s business development group in Singapore but has spent 24 years in power development, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and asset management.
