OPINION
STUART DUCKETT, DESIGN DIRECTOR, MEFAB It is exciting to see a fantastic publication showcasing the unique area that is the Tees Valley; industrial heritage, innovation, education, moors, coast, football, arts, culture and, of course, opportunities! All this contained in a fantastic magazine with stunning photography and design.
To see“ The big picture” illustrating some of the region’ s major industrial and innovative activities, reading how“ We built the world” and how we are“ The export experts” demonstrates we are still building the world.
For me, the most exciting read is the 27 reasons why Tees Valley is helping shape Britain’ s future- 27 reasons that demonstrate exciting positivity and exciting opportunities for business investment, innovation and, most importantly, our future generation.
SHARON DAVIS, HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, NORTHERN ENDURANCE PARTNERSHIP What excited me most was the focus on developing the next generation. As a parent, it’ s encouraging to see so much investment being made in young people across Teesside. Reading about the opportunities being created through skills, apprenticeships and new industries gave me real confidence that we’ re building more than just projects and businesses, we’ re creating long-term opportunities.
For me, success isn’ t just measured in pounds invested or jobs created; it’ s about giving the next generation the chance to thrive in the place they call home.
DR NOEL DENNIS, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY & PARTNERSHIPS, ATOMIX EDUCATIONAL TRUST Reading This is Tees Valley, what stands out is confidence. This is a business community that collaborates, backs its own and thinks well beyond the region: what is made and designed here reaches people around the world.
Ambition on that scale places a real responsibility on education. Through Prior Pursglove College and Stockton Sixth Form College, we are developing young people with the skills, curiosity and confidence to thrive in the sectors driving this growth, and the belief that the best opportunities are here at home. We are proud to play our part in it. Anything really is possible.
BECKY FIELDS, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, CPI This year’ s This Is Tees Valley magazine isn’ t about one individual story, but about the scale of ambition throughout the publication. From clean energy and advanced manufacturing to life sciences, culture and education, it demonstrates that the Tees Valley is building something truly special.
Having grown up here and built my career here, I’ m incredibly passionate about telling our region’ s story. We have world-class businesses, exceptional talent and a collaborative spirit that create an ideal ecosystem for innovation. This magazine reminds us that when we work together, we’ re not just transforming our own region, we’ re creating opportunities with national and global impact.
CRAIG PEACOCK, DIRECTOR OF INWARD INVESTMENT AND MARKETING, TVCA The most exciting thing for me wasn’ t a single project or development – it was seeing how many organisations are now telling the same positive story about the Tees Valley.
A decade ago, we were often talking about potential and what the future might hold. This edition of This Is Tees Valley shows just how far we’ ve come. It’ s a story of delivery, growing confidence and real momentum across our region. That matters because investors don’ t just invest in projects, they invest in places.
What’ s clear throughout this publication is that the Tees Valley is increasingly recognised as a place that says“ yes”, gets things done and is creating opportunities for the future.
