We asked business leaders: What’ s the most exciting thing you read in This Is Tees Valley 2026-27 that you think others should know about?
Here’ s what they had to say …
MATT JOHNSON, DIRECTOR, TEESWORKS It was great to see Northern Endurance Partnership’ s carbon capture storage( CCS) activity being highlighted in This Is Tees Valley. It showcases how the Tees Valley is building the infrastructure needed to support large-scale decarbonisation, creating opportunities not just for today’ s industries but for future investment too.
What makes it particularly exciting is the collaborative approach, with businesses, government and partners working together to deliver something with national significance.
Success for our region won’ t come from any single project. It will come from connecting worldclass infrastructure, skilled people and ambitious organisations- and that collective story is what makes the Tees Valley such an exciting place to invest.
ALLY CAMERON, MD, STEEL RIVER QUAY One story that really stood out for me was the feature on Double Eleven. While the Tees Valley has long been recognised for its industrial heritage, it’ s inspiring to see homegrown businesses leading the way in the digital and creative sectors too. It demonstrates that our region is building a genuinely diverse economy, where advanced manufacturing, clean energy, logistics and technology all have a place.
That breadth of opportunity is one of the Tees Valley’ s greatest strengths and it’ s exactly the kind of story we should be shouting about to investors, businesses and talented people looking to build their future here.
LAURA TELFORD, CLUSTER GENERAL MANAGER, HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS MIDDLESBROUGH & STATION SUITES I’ d have to say the article about The Power 27 is one I’ d love everyone to know about, as it shows the Tees Valley transforming in every direction. From clean energy and advanced manufacturing to culture, digital innovation, education and regeneration, the 27 projects highlight a region that’ s ambitious, modern and full of momentum.
We run two hotels in the area, welcoming thousands of guests each month, so it’ s inspiring to see how much is happening around us – new jobs, new attractions, new industries and a growing national profile. It’ s a story we’ re proud to share with our visitors discovering Middlesbrough and the wider Tees Valley.
