BREATH OF FRESH AIR

Thriving Teesside HVAC firm has wind in its sails

WORDS: DAVE ROBSON PICTURES: CHRIS BOOTH

When Richard Watson started Eurovent HVAC Solutions in 2019, it was initially all about doing small jobs well.

Whether designing ventilation systems, air conditioning systems or changing filters in buildings, the plan was to quietly establish a reputation for high quality in all areas of HVAC( heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
Seven years on, it’ s fair to say the plan has paid off, with the sweet smell of success very much in the air.
Not only is consistent work coming in from a range of often high-profile clients, the Middlesbrough-based firm has just landed a £ 5m, 14-month contract to supply and install all ventilation systems in a European data centre the size of 11 football pitches.
And as he reflects on his journey since 2019, Richard is proud of what’ s been achieved so far- and excited at what’ s to come.
Richard, from Middlesbrough, started out on a mechanical apprenticeship with engineering firm Eve Graham, which is where he got into the mechanical side of things- and has been now for the best part of 25 years.
With a background in HVAC design consultancy, and keen to set up a firm that offered the full HVAC package- design, supply, installation and commissioning- he teamed up with Scott Bone, who founded the Eurovent company 20 years ago after a history in HVAC, purifying and hygiene.
Eurovent Group now has four divisions- Eurovent Purifying, Eurovent Hygiene, Eurovent LEV and Eurovent HVAC Solutions, of which Richard is MD.
As Tees Business talks to him in the Eurovent HVAC Solutions office on High Force Road, Middlesbrough, the whiteboard in the corner shows an impressive list of names his firm is currently working with.
And he admits it’ s all a far cry from 2019 when he first started out.
He said:“ Initially, there was just me in an office and one staff member on Riverside Park. Then, just a few months in, Covid happened.
