STEELING THE SHOW
UK Steel Enterprise marks 50 years of supporting business and communities
UKSE( UK Steel Enterprise) is celebrating a landmark 50 years of championing economic growth, entrepreneurship and community regeneration across the UK.
Established in 1975 to help regenerate traditional steel communities, UKSE has since invested more than £ 122m supporting more than 8,000 businesses and helping to create in excess of 84,000 jobs nationwide.
“ Half a century is a significant milestone,” said Sarah Thorpe, regional manager at UKSE.
“ It is incredibly rewarding to see how many businesses we’ ve supported in the northern region alone that go on to thrive.
“ These companies have made a substantial contribution to regional and national economic growth, creating jobs, expanding into new markets and in many cases gaining international recognition.
“ We’ ve built long-term relationships with businesses that truly value our experience, independence and ability to provide tailored financial support.
“ Increasingly, today’ s companies are recognising the benefits of equity investment for sustained growth, alongside our secured and unsecured loan offerings.”
UKSE offers a range of funding solutions, from unsecured loans of up to £ 200,000 to equity investments of up to £ 1m, supporting a diverse mix of business needs, from scaling operations and purchasing premises to completing management buyouts.
“ Our support is always bespoke and designed to meet the unique goals of each business we work with,” said Sarah.
“ We recently recorded our most successful investment quarter to date and we look forward to continuing to back the next generation of innovative UK businesses.”
Beyond business investment, UKSE has channelled millions of pounds directly into local communities, funding projects that make a tangible difference to people’ s lives.
In the north, UKSE community grants have supported charities assisting the homeless, individuals with disabilities and learning difficulties, as well as local groups delivering youth services, arts programmes, and sports activities.
As UKSE celebrates 50 years of impact, the organisation remains committed to its founding purpose – driving regeneration and economic growth in communities that need it most.
