Comprehensive – group CEO John Betts says offering a full service to its clients brings significant advantages.
Integrity – INDUSTRO’ s success is fuelled by a culture of humility and an ongoing commitment to health and safety.
We need the right people with the right skill set and, equally as important, the right attitude.”
“ We need the right people with the right skill set and, equally as important, the right attitude.”
The five-person design team at INDUSTRO is a blend of seasoned expertise and fresh local talent. Dave Nash, the senior structural designer, is a prime example of the former.
After a long career running his own business, which INDUSTRO had previously used for outsourced design work, Dave joined the team five years ago.
John says:“ Recruiting an exceptionally experienced structural designer like Dave was a real coup for us here at INDUSTRO. He brings to the table an almost unmatched level of experience in structural design. He’ s practical and pragmatic and he loves to problem-solve. He is an integral part of the team and the design solutions that we offer to our customers”.
As important as Dave’ s role is to design, it should be noted that as the longestserving and most experienced member of the team, he also serves as a mentor and guide to his younger colleagues.
This mentorship is crucial for the company’ s future, as it nurtures the next generation of engineers, something which is very much in line with the group’ s cultural values.
Matthew Davison, a 25-year-old structural engineer, is the most recent addition to the team and a symbol of INDUSTRO’ s commitment to local talent.
John says:“ We foster a culture of continuous improvement and talent development at INDUSTRO. It feels as though we have seen the emergence of a large skills gap in our area over the years and a lack of opportunities, meaning people like Matthew would have moved away.”
Now, thanks to companies such as INDUSTRO Design Engineering, young people like Matthew have the chance to stay in the area, further their experience and contribute to a local economy where they have grown up.
John said:“ Matthew has a chance to flourish in this group of businesses, and I see him as a future leader at INDUSTRO.”
This approach of bringing experienced staff members in-house and combining them with the next generation of engineering talent has allowed INDUSTRO to carve out a significant presence in demanding sectors such as oil and gas, renewables, mining and petrochemicals.
John says:“ We are scaled enough to be dynamic in order to deliver projects efficiently, as opposed to larger companies who can often have lengthy lead times to deliver answers.
“ Yet at the same time, we are large enough to have all the requirements you would expect in place, such as our own fabrication facility and an ever-growing in-house team.
“ It’ s this unique balance which allows us to undertake large-scale, complex projects, delivering them efficiently and safely.”
INDUSTRO’ s success is not just about its track record of delivering projects. It is also driven by a culture of humility and an ongoing commitment to health and safety, meaning the company has gained a reputation for delivering on time, within budget, safely and without incident.
John says:“ We don’ t like to spend too much time congratulating ourselves, we look to the next project, and we strive for constant improvement. This self-critical and focused mindset reflects the entire organisation, from the initial designs to the final product.
“ The group has fostered an ongoing commitment to the highest levels of health and safety, making it a full-time focus and not a part-time practice, which enables our customers to engage with us with confidence.”
With INDUSTRO Design Engineering supporting INDUSTRO Engineering Solutions, as well as INTEK Electrical Engineering and VERTEX Construction & Civil Engineering, the future certainly looks bright for the INDUSTRO group of companies.
