With an August 12 deadline for entries and nominations to the Tees Businesswomen Awards 2025, former winners tell us why they’ d encourage others to enter their business – or nominate a deserving individual they know.
CLAIRE PRESTON, TEES BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR 2018 As a local businesswoman who’ s had the privilege of being recognised in recent years, I’ ve seen the powerful impact of the Tees Businesswomen Awards in building a strong, supportive community. The inspiration and connections they create – especially for the next generation – are something the late Jane Turner would be proud of, but we must go further.
Let’ s actively involve, celebrate and nominate brilliant women doing great things who aren’ t yet visible. Inclusion must be intentional. By shining a light on those often overlooked, we open doors to recognition and opportunity. Get nominating – I will be!
JANE ARMITAGE, POWER OF WOMEN, TEES BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR 2020 Nominating someone for an award is a very special thing to do. Whether or not that nomination leads to shortlisting, just taking the time to nominate someone shows you care and respect them enough to make the effort. If your business is shortlisted then this is excellent for brand awareness regardless of whether you win. If your business wins then the feel good factor within the business of such a win is something money cannot buy.
Becoming Tees Businesswoman of the Year opened up a new network of businesswomen for me from many different business sectors. These amazing women have been there for support and guidance, for insight and friendship. We have worked together on projects for the community and shared a passion for Teesside. I will always be grateful for this honour and the opportunities it has provided.
