Big enough to deliver but small enough to care .” It ’ s a phrase that neatly sums up Circle Cloud – a Stockton-based firm that specialises in providing trusted IT support with cyber security as standard for small and medium-sized companies .
Back in 2013 , two colleagues in a plc ’ s IT department , Tom Roberton and Michael Povey , saw a need for SMEs to receive topclass technical and cyber security support – especially with the Microsoft Cloud in relative infancy but destined to become a key part of the tech environment .
Twelve years later , they now head a business that ’ s organically growing 25 % a year and pushing a £ 2m annual turnover .
It ’ s a Tees Valley success story – and that success looks set to keep coming , with its tried and tested support model trusted by more than 100 clients and Circle Cloud eyeing a programme of acquisitions in the not-too-distant future .
But underpinning everything , says technical director Tom , is a continuing determination to service an SME market that wants the security and peace of mind working with Circle Cloud can bring .
He said : “ We ’ re a different sort of IT company in that we ’ ve built a full offering exclusively for SMEs . “ We ’ re not a boutique IT company who ask you what you need and provide a mixed bag of solutions . We have created packages that cover the core IT and Cyber Security needs for SMEs out of the box .
“ That ’ s where we want to position ourselves – our packaged solutions enables us to guarantee the high level of service we have become known for with SMEs .
“ Customer service gets compromised when you try to do everything for everybody .”
From its base in Stockton ’ s Fusion Hive , Circle Cloud ’ s nine-strong team works closely with SMEs to provide general IT support , a comprehensive cyber security programme and excellent customer service .
It has always been profitable and has never required venture capital or external investment – it ’ s a Tees Valley business operated successfully by Tees Valley people .
Its ongoing growth means more good quality tech jobs are planned . It also hopes to work more with the public sector supply chain .
