Moonrise 24hr Recruitment looks to expand training support for staff and others interested in caring careers
Continuous professional development is not something the staff and business owners at Moonrise 24hr Recruitment pay mere lip service to .
In fact , Jessica Gwaringa and the team , who provide caring health professionals to work in the community and a variety of healthcare settings , are passionate about lifelong learning .
It ’ s part of the reason the company has a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission ( CQC ) which inspects its people and services .
Now , expansion is on the cards for the Moonrise training department , which supports people to work at the same time as studying for care qualifications .
The growth of Moonrise ’ s training arm is one of a number of exciting developments happening for the business in 2025 , with the opening of two new children ’ s care homes in Stockton and the establishment of Moonrise ’ s Scotland office also pending in the near future .
“ We are also working towards registration for the company to be a certified training company , providing healthcare training to a wide range of people ,” Jessica says .
“ Once we have established that , we will have our own trainers , whereas , at the moment , we are outsourcing for training .
“ Currently , we are offering training here two days every week and it ’ s been an area we have wanted to expand for some time .”
As well as training its own employees , Moonrise aims to offer training to people working for other caring employers – or those aspiring to work in care .
“ In this way , we will be providing training , not just for our own staff but for other healthcare providers ’ employees and those who want to find work in care as well ,” Jessica says .
Business administrator Sarah Harland currently oversees all the mandatory training current care staff have to complete , such as training around moving and handling patients who require mobility support and infection and control .
However , she is excited to see Moonrise branching out to offer NVQs and apprenticeships .
Moonrise will soon partner with Derwentside College to provide level 3 and 4 NVQs in residential childcare and young person and families practitioner awards .
This is part of the training Ofsted requires ahead of the firm ’ s children ’ s homes in Stockton opening .
“ We have 14 people signed up to that training and we are ready to go with that qualification , specifically for our children ’ s homes ,” Sarah says .
Jessica adds Moonrise also plans to launch a recruitment academy , interviewing their health and social care students for jobs at Moonrise .
“ They do two weeks ’ training with the college and they are guaranteed an interview with us and can then look to move into a position with Moonrise ,”
