Celebrating 20 years of Arup in Tees Valley
Arup , a global consultancy in sustainable development , is celebrating 20-years at its Stockton office .
Over the past two decades , Arup has become a familiar member of the local business community – working alongside a host of partners and clients to bring positive change to the local and wider Tees Valley region .
Arup established its presence in Stockton in 2004 , after entering a partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council . This saw Arup integrate with the council ’ s operations , delivering on projects as one team rather than simply offering supplementary support . This holistic partnership continues to this day across a range of regeneration and transport projects .
Arup ’ s Stockton office is the base for building its business in Tees Valley and it has now worked with all five local authorities in the region , the combined authority and several private sector companies to help transform the evolving landscape of Tees Valley .
From regeneration efforts to industrial
Arup ’ s Stephen Wells with Councillor Nigel Cooke , Stockton Council ’ s cabinet member for regeneration and housing developments , Arup regularly contributes its global multidisciplinary expertise to projects that support the region ’ s ambitions .
The team has also contributed to transport and infrastructure projects aiming to improve connectivity across Teesside and beyond . These projects , which include road and rail improvements , masterplanning town centres , active travel enhancements and flood resilience work , have sought to enhance accessibility and create opportunities for local communities and businesses .
Beyond major projects , Arup is committed to developing the next generation of talent . Most recent examples include guest lectures at Teesside University around net zero and working with Stockton Riverside College to offer careers advice .
Looking ahead , Arup remains committed to shaping a thriving , resilient and forwardthinking Tees Valley , working together to create lasting positive impacts for years to come .
Stephen Wells , Arup ’ s Stockton Office leader , comments : “ As a born-and-bred Teessider , I am extremely proud of how our business has grown extensively over the time we ’ ve had an office in Stockton – becoming now very much part of the community .
“ However , I don ’ t think our work is done yet and I very much look forward to continuing to make a difference in the Tees Valley area .”
