MIDDLESBROUGH TO MILAN
AND BEYOND
Durata ’ s brand gaining global prominence
WORDS : PAUL FRASER
Durata ’ s world tour has continued at pace over the last few months . As well as appearances at events in London and Silverstone , Middlesbrough ’ s specialist in critical power infrastructure and modular data centres has been to various other places on the map .
Frankfurt , Madrid , Reykjavik , Cannes , Antibes , Dubai , South Africa , Copenhagen and Warsaw have all been visited by the team , as the Durata brand gains more and more recognition across the industry .
With the significance of artificial intelligence ( AI ) growing by the hour , the digital infrastructure market is more prominent , as well as there being a sharper focus on data centres , edge computing , high-density computing , immersion technologies and telco infrastructures .
And Durata is travelling around , mixing with industry leaders and explaining how , from the Teesside base , they can build and deliver a modular data centre anywhere in the world . From Middlesbrough to Milan and beyond .
Jo Stiles , head of data centre solutions at Durata , said : “ We are in a perfect position to work globally .
“ We have a freeport on our doorstep and we have the ability to dip into different areas with the pool of talent we have .
“ Durata is opening new doors . We are having many enquiries , forming new partnerships in various countries we have never worked in before .
“ All of our trips and appearances at industry events give us better coverage on the ground .”
During a trip to Reykjavik , Iceland , Jo heard how the government there has outlined how they are reusing excess heat and have set up data centres next door to villages to boost the drive for greater sustainability .
And with environmental and social governance at the forefront of everyone ’ s vocabulary these days , Durata ’ s modular data centres can have a huge part to play at home and abroad . Jo said : “ Everyone ’ s eyes and ears are working towards a more sustainable and greener way of design and because we can be so flexible , we can build containers to be more sustainable for the environment .
“ We can make them greener with ‘ live ’ walls . Globally we have to learn a lot more about how to build a data centre more aesthetically pleasing .
“ You must build a house to be aesthetically pleasing to the area , so why shouldn ’ t data centre companies do that ? They need to focus a lot on that and we can help .
“ Data centres are a working beast . We are still providing the technology , an external division needed , the protection for the critical loads being looked after , but we are also putting together a whole concept of a workhorse .
“ Let ’ s face it , with AI on the increase , what you will find in the years to come is that data centres are going to be closer to residential homes and schools , so there ’ s no reason why they shouldn ’ t blend in .”
That is the message Durata is helping to deliver because they feel they can lead from the front and help with the change .
Durata also designs outside of modular too , while also offering all aspects of critical power solutions design and installation .
