Property experts Sanderson Weatherall , whose Teesside office is based at Stockton ’ s Surtees Business Park , brought a touch of South African charm to Teesside during their fifth annual wine and food pairing event .
Held once again at the picturesque Chadwicks Inn Maltby on a crisp November evening , the event was hosted by partners David Fairley and Matthew Clarke .
Each year , the highly anticipated gathering showcases wines from a different country , and this year ’ s homage to the Rainbow Nation of South Africa delighted guests with a carefully curated selection of reds , whites and rosés , alongside a sumptuous four-course dinner crafted by Chadwicks ’ owners Lee Tolley and Helen Gill and their talented team .
Chadwicks , with its cosy log fire and intimate ambiance , once again proved to be the perfect venue as the evening welcomed 35 guests including solicitors , accountants and business advisers from the North-East region , and served as a heartfelt thank you to both them and to the staff from Sanderson Weatherall ’ s Teesside and Newcastle offices .
Delight – the Sanderson Weatherall wine and food pairing night is a way of thanking both clients and hardworking staff .
“ The night was really good fun and the food was superb as always ,” said Matthew . “ Guests , including myself and David , never know the menu in advance . Our team agree on the suggested theme and entrust the rest to Chadwicks .”
The night began with canapés , including black pudding sausage rolls and smoked salmon blinis , paired with a refreshing rosé . Four courses then followed , featuring goat ’ s cheese cheesecake served with sauvignon blanc , duck liver parfait with a shiraz , and a main course of sirloin with braised cheek croquettes with a South African red .
“ The star pairing was the dessert course , just as Lee had promised ,” adds Matthew . “ The carrot cake and orange and caramel ice cream served with a delicious dessert wine was a perfect mix !”
One of the highlights of the evening was the charity raffle , which raised an impressive sum for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association . This year ’ s charitable choice carried deep personal meaning for the Sanderson Weatherall team , as it honoured the memory of the late wife of a long-time friend and former colleague .
“ She worked for the charity , and the evening provided an opportunity to celebrate her legacy while supporting an organisation that transforms lives ,” said Matthew .
Guests participated enthusiastically in the raffle , knowing their contributions would make a tangible difference for those in need .
