SeAH deal boost as Meldrum Group secures more Tees work

WIND OF CHANGE
Meldrum Group has been awarded the contract to build SeAH Wind ’ s new office accommodation block as part of SeAH ’ s XXXL monopile manufacturing facility on Teesside . The £ 450m development is at Teesworks , part of the UK ’ s largest freeport .
The new office accommodation sits adjacent to its mammoth 1.1m-sq ft factory and will serve as its administrative and operational centre , which is expected to open its doors in 2025 .
Meldrum Group has been appointed by Teesside-based K2 Construction Management , the site ’ s principal contractor tasked with the successful delivery of the world ’ s largest monopile factory .
The project currently employs more than 700 people and once the site is fully operational it is expected to deliver 750 high-quality and highly skilled jobs , in addition to 1,500 jobs within the supply chain .

The client is thrilled with its new building , with the school ’ s capital development manager Alan Hodgson saying : “ We ’ re delighted with the recently completed new building , which comprises a new kitchen and servery area , dining hall , large foyer space , library and classrooms .
“ From start to finish , the communication between the site team and myself has worked very well , with regular weekly on site meetings with the project manager , which proved to be both effective and informative .
“ Meldrum Construction has handled the challenges of a very tricky build on a live , busy school site very well indeed .
“ Having recently commenced the occupation of the building , the school and , in particular , the pupils are just beginning to enjoy the fruits of all the hard work that Meldrum has put into delivering the project .”

Providing a dynamic learning experience for its students , Yarm School will also become the heartbeat of the wider community , providing spaces and events to bring people together .
The new building inspires young minds to think , question and create while also facilitating vital functions of school life .
Events such as the STEM festival for primary schools and the Power of Women development day mark the beginning of enhanced community partnerships within the new building .
The project has also been externally recognised for its community work .
Meldrum Constructors Scheme ’ s was awarded a Considerate Constructors Scheme Leading Lights Award for the community work conducted while delivering the project .
The award is given to projects that have given back to the community , improved , developed or have invested in the community and where proactive and effective communication and engagement with the community has been achieved . “ This was only possible due to the collaborative , professional and cohesive nature of the project team , from the client to consultants , through to the onsite delivery team ,” added Dave .
Meldrum Group currently employs more than 200 people in the North-East , with offices in Teesside , Gateshead and Cambridge , and has supported more than 180 apprentices and trainees in its 22-year history .
