Thriving Tees Engineering firm recruiting to support $ 200m-worth of future global projects

BC & T Consultants is recruiting more engineers to join its expanding team , as part of its “ exciting plans ” this year to further grow the business .

High-calibre engineers looking for a new role are required by BC & T Consultants , based in Thornaby .
The company , which was established in 1986 and employs 24 people , including three apprentices , is looking for a range of candidates across civil , mechanical , electrical , instrumentation and process engineering disciplines .
It ’ s an exciting time to join the firm , as it ’ s expanding to accommodate $ 200m-worth of projects across the UAE , India and Africa , as well as several new projects on the horizon in the UK in the oil and gas downstream sector and renewable projects .
The multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy , which provides process , mechanical , civil , structural and electrical , control and instrumentation engineering services to the process industries , moved into its new premises , Ash House , in Thornaby , last year .
The building , which the firm acquired
Major project – BC & T completed work on Oikos Storage , a jet aviation storage facility at Canvey Island . and moved into last July , has stunning panoramic views of Teesside and some of its most beloved landmarks , including Roseberry Topping , the Transporter Bridge and the Infinity Bridge .
It has an open plan office , two separate offices , a meeting room and fully fitted kitchen area .
General manager Joe Melville , who joined the company eight years ago , said : “ If you get the environment right , you get the culture right .

There are also opportunities for career progression . Applicants are preferred to be chartered ( CEng ) and possess a relevant degree . However , candidates possessing demonstrable experience will also be considered .
Sea legs – BC & T completed engineering and detailed design on a project to import fuel from ship to shore at Canvey Island .
Shining brightly – BC & T completed engineering and detailed design for an LPG terminal comprising the world ’ s largest pressure vessels for Bidvest Tank Terminals in South Africa .
BC & T Consultants , which has established a niche for itself in storage projects and in particular LPG ( liquefied petroleum gas ) facilities and has designed some of the largest facilities in the world , is part of a larger collective of companies under a group holding .
Its sister company , specialist tank design firm JM Dixon Associates in Newton-le- Willows , was acquired two years ago , while the bigger connected companies of Lloyd Jones Construction , which provide engineering , procurement and construction ( EPC ) services in the liquefied gas sector , have operations in Mauritius and South Africa .
BC & T Consultants is looking at making further acquisitions in 2024 as part of its growth plan .
The firm took on its first three engineering apprentices last year and works with Teesside University and Middlesbrough College to recruit young talent .
Originally based in Whitby , the company moved to Kirkleatham Business Park in 2003 , before relocating to Thornaby so it could be “ positioned in the heart of Teesside ” in 2023 .
