One of Teesside ’ s proudest advocates says it was “ amazing ” to get two coveted VelociTees awards in his company ’ s 30th year .
Port Clarence-based Wilton Engineering Services claimed not only the Job Creation – Large Business title , having more than doubled its workforce from 125 to 251 , but also claimed the Overall title – sponsored by Westray Recruitment Group – by being named the overall fastest-growing business from all the finalists .
CEO Bill Scott OBE DL told the audience how new defence contracts in particular promised to create work for many years to come . And he explained how a pride in Teesside always drove him on . He told the Wynyard Hall audience : “ I advocate for Teesside all day , every day . Yesterday was a buzzing day for me because I was with our next cohort of apprentices .
“ We ’ re committed to 120 apprentices , so to come and see this sort of scenario where you ’ re looking at people who are putting their all in and growing – not just in their turnover but growth of people – that ’ s really important to me .” Established in 1994 , Wilton Engineering Services has achieved unparalleled success , specialising in designing , manufacturing , coating and loading out large , complicated structures for the offshore oil and gas , subsea , marine , defence , decommissioning and offshore wind industries .
Based next to the Transporter Bridge on a 112-acre site on the River Tees , its large manufacturing halls are supported by equally impressive blasting , coating and loadout capabilities .

Games developer Radical Forge grew from 36 to 71 employees – a growth of 97.22 %.

ZTL Contracting ( Middlesbrough )
Earthworks and ground improvement contractor ZTL Contracting created 13 new jobs – achieving year-on-year growth of 81 %.

TELCOSS ( Wilton )
Industrial and environmental services specialists Telcoss created 21 jobs for an annual growth of 78 %.
