STEEL BENDERS UK MOVE WILL CREATE MORE JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Site – Steel Benders UK is moving from Middlesbrough to Hartlepool .

The six-acre site of a former Hartlepool steel plant is being brought back to life after a Teessidebased company announced it is moving its home .

Steel Benders UK has taken on a multimillion-pound project that will see the ambitious business move from Middlesbrough for the first time since it was formed 21 years ago .
The transformation of the former Caparo and forge plant site on Brenda Road , Hartlepool , which has been largely demolished since its closure in 2015 , will lead to the creation of at least 15 new jobs and a host of new opportunities .
It will also increase capacity and create greater options for Steel Benders , which is already one of the leading steel processing specialists in the UK , particularly in the north . Steel Benders have outgrown the space
they have rented on Dockside Road , Middlesbrough , from Readman Steel , and the new site will give them the capability to house more equipment and provide more space .
Work on renovating the derelict brickhouse that runs alongside Brenda Road has already started and when complete will include office space as well as a base for the only 8x2m fibre laser cutting bed in the north .
Over the next two years , Steel Benders will gradually complete the move to Hartlepool , having had support from Hartlepool Council and a grant from the Tees Valley Combined Authority , managed by UMi , to help with capital spend and job creation .
Steel Benders operates in a wide range of markets , including marine , defence , renewable energy , offshore , petrochemical , manufacturing , architectural and civil engineering .
Applications invited to run enterprise centre
Expressions of interest in leasing an enterprise centre in Hartlepool are being invited from community groups and enterprises .
Hartlepool Enterprise Centre in Brougham Terrace is being marketed as a Community Asset Transfer ( CAT ) opportunity with a condition that it must continue to be used as a business centre .
The three-storey former Victorian school comprises a multi-let 47-unit business centre , offices , workshops , a car park and a café .
Interested parties should state their preferred term of 10 to 35 years .

Roofing firm drives forward green initiative
A roofing company is driving its commitment to sustainability forward with the addition of an electric vehicle .
Hartlepool-based Findley Roofing , which operates across the entire North-East , has purchased an MG4 EV to add to its existing fleet .
Sales and marketing manager Richie Carrigan said : “ We decided to make our latest vehicle purchase electric due to both rising fuel costs and for the environmental benefits .”
The purchase is the latest in Findley ’ s innovations after the firm launched an app to improve and streamline the order process from quote to completion .
The firm also expanded into solar panels in 2022 in order to offer customers an environmentally conscious choice .
New Highlight leisure centre given go-ahead
Councillors have agreed a revised funding strategy for Hartlepool ’ s new Highlight leisure centre , clearing the way for construction work to start .
A full meeting of Hartlepool Borough Council gave the go-ahead to a new funding package , which had been recommended for approval by the authority ’ s Finance and Policy Committee .
This follows an increase in the cost of the scheme because of the impact of the pandemic and inflation .
The original budget for Highlight was £ 25.65m and the projected cost is now estimated at around £ 34.65m .
Wates Construction has been appointed as main contractor to deliver the project in partnership with the council .
Funding boost for fight against crime and antisocial behaviour
Hartlepool is to receive a share of almost £ 1m of government funding for measures to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour .
A total of £ 999,999.84 has been awarded to the Office of Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Turner as part of the Home Office ’ s £ 43m Safer Streets Fund .
Projects include improvements to alley gates , burglary reduction initiatives and the appointment of a community cohesion officer .
It is also proposed to appoint an environmental project officer to gather intelligence and investigate environmental crime and antisocial behaviour .
Communities in Middlesbrough and Stockton will benefit from similar levels of funding .
