NEW NET ZERO PROJECT FOR TEESWORKS

The former steel land of Teesworks is set to take centre stage in a major new net zero project led by SUEZ and Circular Fuels . SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK and Circular Fuels ( CFL ) have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together to deliver a sustainable liquid petroleum gas replacement from refusederived fuel .

The facility will be based at Circular Fuel ’ s planned plant at Teesworks , near Redcar , the UK ’ s largest industrial zone .
As a leading resource management company , SUEZ leaders say it is proud to be working with CFL to develop lowcarbon fuels to support the UK ’ s transition to net zero .
SUEZ and CFL have entered into an agreement to produce renewable and recycled DME , a low-carbon liquid gas that allows off-grid businesses and households ,
reliant on LPG , to decarbonise their energy use .
It has a low greenhouse gas footprint , reducing emissions by more than 85 per cent over the project lifetime compared to fossil fuels . It is also a safe , cost-effective and clean-burning fuel . It can also achieve more than 100 per cent emissions savings when carbon capture is used significantly , helping the UK achieve its 2050 net zero target .
As developer of the plant , Circular Fuels sees advanced gasification specialists KEW Technology join forces with Dimeta , a joint venture comprising the two largest global liquid petroleum gas producers .
The industrial-scale plant will deploy KEW ’ s modular advanced gasification units at the scale of the existing operational facility , KEW ’ s Sustainable Energy Centre and RenFuD ’ s syngas-to-DME synthesis technology .
Business brings circular economy to workwear
A Teesside company has joined forces with a major national PPE and workwear supplier to help increase the amount of polyester clothing that can be recycled back into new products instead of ending up in landfill .
Based in the Wilton Centre , Stuff4Life is in a joint venture with safety products , workwear and services company Arco to produce longer-lasting polyester workwear made out of high value raw materials extracted from discarded protective clothing and uniforms .
Co-founder John Twitchen ( pictured ) said the Wilton Centre was the obvious choice for Stuff4Life because of its knowledge , heritage and proximity to Teesside ’ s net zero industries .
