“ It ’ s going to be a centre for general private dentistry as well as for referral of more specialist-led dentistry ,” explained Ian . “ We will welcome patients of dentists in the area that may not have specialist skills – those dentists can be reassured we will see their patients and look after them , before discharging them back for ongoing care .”
As part of Riverdale Healthcare , Vitality Dental Care has the best of both worlds . It ’ s part of a progressive company but retains its unique identity . All four Vitality Dental Care practices offer private routine dentistry . However , each of them has its own personality , as Ian explains .
He said : “ Our Guisborough practice – which was a new development located behind Marks & Spencer – has an emphasis on hygiene and periodontal treatment , with a lovely local team of experienced dentists led by Claire Abbas .
“ Then there is Vitality Stokesley – headed up by our group implant lead Haytham Abbas – and Vitality Northallerton , which is led by Guy Wells . Both are well established and , among their many treatments , deliver general dentistry and implants .”
John Scantlebury , Riverdale Healthcare ’ s head of region for the north , fully supports this notion .

“ Neeraj has been the driving force behind developing the Riverdale Academy ,” said Ian . “ It has been an incredible resource for training dentists through both hands-on and online courses , while being a vital support network for our teams .”
Ian is keen to stress that it doesn ’ t stop at just dentists .
He added : “ Dentists are very important , but they are absolutely nothing without the clinical support in the practice , such as our dental nurses and our receptionists .
“ They are vital and it ’ s important we retain them in this challenging environment . We aim to make it a team environment where the staff want to come to work and be part of that team .” Vitality Dental Care , established by by Ian and Jayne Gordon in Stokesley in 2008 , was welcomed into the Riverdale Healthcare family in 2018 , along with the group of Alpha Dental Care practices , which were founded by Ian and partners Ben Wild , David Birkin , Guy Wells and Neeraj Diddee . On joining , Ian and Ben became directors of the parent company .
