Celebrating 60 years of Aircon excellence
It ’ s celebrating 60 years of award-winning air conditioning , refrigeration , heating and ventilation provision – and Aircon Group ’ s diamond anniversary is testament to the relentless dedication of its founders , employees , customers , and suppliers .
Evolving from a family-run entity , the group – with offices in Teesside , Rotherham and Ripon - has acquired five other family businesses to shape its present identity .
Managing director Steve Farrell emphasises that the team ’ s collective commitment , positive attitude and adherence to company values all contribute to Aircon Group ’ s growth and quality service .
And when asked to highlight three significant achievements , he said : “ Assembling an exceptional team , surviving the 2007 / 2008 recession with no drop in working hours or redundancies , and the milestone Ascension Island project .”
The 2007 / 2008 recession posed challenges but , under Steve ’ s guidance , Aircon emerged stronger . Branch manager Keith Quinn said : “ There was so much
uncertainty around the business , but Steve remained confident .”
With more than 50 employees across two sites , branch manager Sophie McJimpsey emphasised the commitment to nurturing talent through extensive training , and leading a workforce with exceptional work ethics and dedication .
“ They all care ,” said Steve . “ They prioritise customer satisfaction , have a positive attitude and uphold the company ’ s ethos and values , collectively contributing to the company ’ s growth .”
And James Farrell , contracts designer , and Ben Farrell , senior engineer – proud sons of Steve - applauded the prestigious clients they work with and admired their efforts in embracing innovation and energy efficiency while also meeting the demands of the business .
The pinnacle achievement that tested and united the Aircon team , however , was the Ascension Island project for Interserve Defence .
A refrigerated freezer ration store , built on the remote Ascension Island in
2018 , was a significant endeavour that showcased the group ’ s expertise .
Transporting one 40ft container , six 20ft containers and seven Reefers ( refrigerated containers ) to the island , constructing in extreme conditions , and crafting a comprehensive health and safety plan , marked unchartered territory for Aircon .
Steve said : “ It was like going halfway around the world to build a rocket , you only get one chance !”
Despite the challenges , however , the project ’ s success exceeded expectations , earning commendation from Interserve Defence .
The Aircon Group ’ s journey , from a family-run business to a seasoned industry player , reflects a legacy of resilience , innovation , and commitment to excellence .
