How three friends combined to make refurb specialists WCS Interiors a big hit
Back in 2020 , while the world was coming to terms with the pandemic , three ambitious Teessiders joined forces to create WCS Interiors .
Three years later , the trio ’ s internal refurbishment business is booming and , according to one of the directors Jack Marsh , it ’ s time to spread the word about a genuine North-East success story .
Jack and his partners Andy Carter and Nathan Liddell were born and raised on Middlesbrough ’ s Easterside estate .
Not so long ago they were three young lads kicking a ball about together in the street . Now , a couple of decades later , they are running a business that is winning six-figure contracts and has a reputation for reliability and high-quality workmanship .
“ It ’ s gone so much better than we could have hoped for ,” admits Jack .
“ Our turnover is doubling year-on-year , which is phenomenal , and we are winning big clients up and down the country .
“ We ’ re proud of the fact that we know we are doing a good job and gaining a lot of positive feedback . A lot of people want to use us , so we seem to be doing plenty right .”
WCS Interiors is a one-stop shop when it comes to refurbishing commercial premises , whether it ’ s a classroom , a healthcare facility or an office space .
Small or large , size doesn ’ t matter and , crucially , the company ticks all the boxes when it comes to health and safety legislation .
Dealing with WCS Interiors directly rather than several separate contractors also makes life considerably easier for clients .
“ We think of ourselves as a turnkey refurbishment company ,” explains Jack .
“ We ’ re handed the key at the beginning and we hand it back with all the work completed .
“ When it comes to internal refurbishments we have a team of floor layers , joiners , plumbers , ceiling fixers , painters and decorators , electricians , gas engineers , you name it – we literally have every specialist trade for an internal re-fit !
“ We make sure the job complies with all the recommended safety procedures and we make sure the refurbed premises is ready to move into the moment we hand back the key .”
From a standing start , WCS Interiors currently employs 40 locally recruited staff and , if things continue as they are , more recruits will be required sooner rather than later .
Jack revealed that this year has seen the size of contracts the firm is winning move from five-figures into the six-figure category .
It ’ s all a far cry from the time when the friends agreed to combine their respective skills and start a business .
“ We merged almost organically into the same company ,” recalls Jack .
“ Andy was a ceiling fixer by trade , Nathan was a floor layer by trade , and I have a sales background , but my family

were in construction .
“ We brought all the trades together and that collective expertise , combined with the care and attention we bring to every job , means that we deliver a top-class service .”
“ We ’ ve found ourselves in a nice little niche because we aren ’ t too big and we aren ’ t too small ,” he continues .
“ The clients we have got now include James Cook University Hospital and Teesworks , and we ’ ve just completed a large refurbishment at CPD bodies , which is a big company on Teesside .
“ We ’ re getting to a point where we are really getting noticed and we recently had a meeting with the Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen , who gave us some sound advice .”
So what ’ s the next step for WCS Interiors ?
“ We just want to be the best ,” answers Jack . “ We ’ ve worked incredibly hard to get this far and we just want to keep going and spreading our network of clients across the country . We ’ d like to be a household name one day .
“ Any company , business or individual requiring a refurb , I ’ d like us to be the first name they think of .”
