Funding – A report has revealed that more than £ 39m was invested by new businesses in the Stockton borough between May and December last year .

More than £ 39m was invested by new businesses in the Stockton borough between May and December last year , a report has revealed .
During that time there were also 307 jobs created in the area across 159 private sector investments .
The figures are included in an update on Stockton Council ’ s Inclusive Growth Report 2022-27 .
The report also details how more than 200 residents have been helped into employment since the council-run Employment and Training Hub launched in 2022 .
Councillor Nigel Cooke , the council ’ s cabinet member for regeneration and housing , said : “ The Stockton borough is a great place to do business and it is really encouraging to hear the investment we are getting from across a range of sectors .
“ And there ’ s lots we are doing to help businesses in the area , such as our Business Investment and Growth Fund , which has helped a range of businesses with things like marketing , equipment and accommodation .
“ And that ’ s not all when it comes to bringing growth to the area . We ’ re also working with Tees Valley Combined Authority and partners Keepmoat Homes , Muse Developments and Thirteen to deliver funding from the government ’ s Brownfield Housing Fund to bring housing developments to areas like Northshore that would have otherwise been underused .
“ Plus , the Employment and Training Hub continues to go from strength to strength , with more than 2,500 residents signed up to help them find skilled roles .
“ This is in addition to the 1,000-plus residents who benefitted from enrolling on a Learning and Skills course last year .”
The founder and creator of hair extensions specialist Additional Lengths says she has been “ overwhelmed ” by the public response since the launch of a new store and salon in Stockton ’ s Wellington Square .
Born in Port Clarence , 45-yearold Victoria Lynch has a fierce determination to succeed that has seen her become the owner of the UK ’ s second-largest hair extensions company .
Additional Lengths also has a 20,000-sq ft warehouse and head office distributing products nationally and internationally at Teesside Industrial Estate .
The business currently has 27 members of staff , with more joining the team over the coming months in line with its plans to expand .
Storage firm helps out good causes
A storage container firm is doing its bit for charity by offering free units to eligible projects .
Stockton-based Cleveland Containers , the UK ’ s largest shipping container sales company , launched the initiative after a year of record-breaking growth .
As part of its commitment to giving back , the company is offering the chance of free hire of a 20-foot container to non-profit organisations such as charities , food banks and schools .
Successful organisations may also be offered a discounted rate beyond the initial 12 months , along with a flat delivery fee of £ 150 .

A charity that encourages kids and adults to walk and talk to improve their physical and mental health is calling on Teesside businesses to support their campaign .
Launched three years ago , the Walk & Talk Trust is committed to improving the physical health and emotional wellbeing of all generations across the North-East .
One of its main aims is to get more primary schoolchildren out walking and talking , especially those from areas of high deprivation and those with special educational needs , as well as socially isolated adults .
This year , the charity ’ s annual summer fundraising campaign , The Big Smile , will focus on making a difference to the lives of people in Stockton .
EnAppSys launches skills academy
A fast-growing Teesside firm that provides insights into the energy market has launched a new skills academy to develop the next generation of industry talent .
Stockton-based EnAppSys was named Company of the Year at the 2022 Tees Tech Awards .
EnAppSys has identified skills shortages in its sector and forged strategic partnerships with several education institutions – in the UK and overseas – to rectify the problem .
The skills academy will train interns , placement students and graduates in a range of key disciplines , including software development and energy data analytics .
In January , EnAppSys became part of the Montel Group , which is headquartered in Oslo , Norway .
