A

commercial air conditioning and gas specialist that ’ s confidently building a strong reputation on Teesside has set out some ambitious plans for 2023 .
However , for Climatec Engineering , based at Kirkleatham Business Park , Redcar , it ’ s not all about increasing turnover , promoting its soon-to-belaunched new website or adding even more staff to its growing workforce .
Being a force for good is much more important to Neil Gilsenan and Paul Greensmith , who started their commercial gas heating and air conditioning installation , servicing and repair business five years ago .
The business partners , whose clients include supermarkets , schools and colleges , warehouses and even Premier League and Championship football clubs , have already funded a defibrillator for the Yarm area , after spotting a fundraising drive on Facebook .
And now , they are on an even bigger fundraising drive for Anthony Nolan , in memory of Paul ’ s sister , Kay .
Kay died at the age of 41 from plasma cell leukaemia – but a gift from Paul in the form of a stem cell transplant ensured she was able to spend one final Christmas with her loving family .
For many people , stem cell transplants such as this can be lifesaving and Paul has remained on the Anthony Nolan stem cell register , pledging to donate again should the need arise for anybody else .
“ We are looking at doing a big fundraising event for Anthony Nolan at the end of the year ,” Neil explains .
“ We hope it will be a fantastic evening , involving some of our customers and suppliers , where we will also raise a considerable amount of money for Anthony Nolan .”
More details of the event are to be announced soon .
Paul and Neil are extremely proud of their firm ’ s strong roots in the local community and are keen to put on a fantastic event .
Neil says : “ We are from Teesside and every company we use to run our business is also from Teesside .
“ We like to work with other businesses from Teesside and we are looking forward to getting to know even more of them in our local area this year .”
Paul and Neil have recently signed up to be community partners with Middlesbrough Football Club and are looking forward to networking with other businesses in the area through this new partnership .
Paul says : “ We set up the office two or three years ago with a view to expanding in the area .
“ We work nationwide , with engineers from all over the UK working from their vans , but we weren ’ t very well-known in the area .
“ Moving into the office here was the first step , then building the client base .
“ We hope being involved with MFC will help with our presence on Teesside and the wider North-East .”
Despite its ambitions to achieve a

greater presence in the local area , Climatec Engineering has already enjoyed steady growth over the past five years .
It now has 12 engineers on the road , two office staff based at Kirkleatham and a contract manager .
The firm has also witnessed an uncharacteristically busy first quarter .
“ Generally , it ’ s quiet at the beginning of the year but we ’ ve never been busier ,” said Neil . “ Companies just seem to be thriving – especially around here . There ’ s construction going on wherever you look .”
With a new website about to launch and an expanding workforce to meet ever-increasing demands , the firm is fully prepared to take full advantage of this perceived growth across the region .
And with Neil and Paul ’ s impressive work ethic and hands-on approach , they ’ re sure to be successful .
“ We just keep our heads down and work Monday to Friday and the business seems to grow ,” Neil says .
“ People like the fact that it ’ s me and Paul – there ’ s no middle management – we are at the end of a telephone and we are also out there , on the tools as well .
“ People know who they are getting , they know our voices and they like the personal touch we offer .”
