Claire Preston , Power of Women campaign The Power of Women Campaign has appointed a former Tees Businesswoman of the Year as its new head of operations as it looks to step up its work to inspire girls across the region .
Claire Preston has joined Power of Women ( POW ) to help launch its second year partnering with local schools and businesses to shift and lift the aspirations and ambitions of girls and young women across the Tees region and beyond .
Claire is working alongside education specialist Andrew Stogdale , of Spark Tees Valley , to increase the impact POW is making in a number of Teesside primary schools while they also have plans to work with secondary schools too .
POW ’ s launch in 2021 was inspired by the late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL in response to reports revealing Middlesbrough and Hartlepool were among the worst places in Britain to grow up as a girl .
Welcoming Claire , Power of Women chair Jane Armitage said : “ The board of POW are delighted that Claire will be working with us to deliver our programmes and develop our campaign .
“ She brings to POW a wealth of
experience in the education sector and in business , and she is passionate about everything POW stands for . We are excited for the future of POW and know it is in safe hands with Claire .”
Former Teesside University student Claire , who was the first Tees Businesswoman of the Year in 2018 , was previously commercial director of North Yorkshire Education Services and also led the national and international growth of Teesside business Sound Training – Lexonik .
Bringing with her 30 years of learning in executive and operational management roles , Claire also contributes to a range of organisations on a voluntary basis , holding roles as chair of Halo Project , director of Open North Foundation and North Yorkshire Business Education Partnership , as well as ambassador for the Institute of Directors and Young Enterprise regional boards .

Harriet-Burrows , Bannatyne Health Club & Spa Ingleby Barwick Bannatyne Group has appointed a new general manager at one of its Tees locations .
Harriet Burrows has been appointed to the senior role at the Bannatyne Health Club and Spa Ingleby Barwick .
She joins the Myton Road health club from the group ’ s Hastings health club and spa , where she was assistant general manager .
Harriet , who initially trained as a hairdresser , joined the Bannatyne Group in May 2017 as a receptionist at the Eastbourne health club .
She progressed to working in the fitness team before promotion to fitness manager in Folkestone and then moving to Hastings .
Jonathan Loughran , Azets One of the region ’ s leading accountancy groups has appointed a chartered financial planner as part of its ambitious growth plans .
Jonathan Loughran has over a decade of experience in wealth management , working for well-known firms including Eveleyn Partners and Investec Wealth and Investment .
He joins Azets ’ wealth management team working across Teesside and County Durham and will advise clients on their financial goals .
David Jeffery , FW Capital FW Capital has appointed a new investment executive to help deliver Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund loans to businesses across the Tees Valley .
