Transport options – a growing number of businesses are starting to realise that rail drastically reduces carbon emissions by up to 76 per cent when compared to road haulage . to move cargo further with frequent , cost effective and environmentally sustainable rail links that are helping to alleviate issues currently faced as a result of the worsening driver shortage .
Now offering in excess of 25 intermodal services a week , plus a number of freight services for bulk cargo , PD Ports ’ rail offering saves a staggering 400,000 road movements annually – removing trucks from congested road networks .
PD Ports ’ three dedicated services to Scotland , for example , are strategically planned in line with ferry arrivals , enabling the most efficient distribution for cargo heading north while allowing customers to benefit from substantial carbon reductions .
With a further 50 per cent growth in rail services anticipated over the next 10 years as we see an increasing number of business choosing rail over road , PD Ports - the only port to currently work with all four major rail operators - is set to further cement Teesport ’ s place as the north ’ s leading rail hub for global imports and exports .

Earlier this year , we also boosted another service on our roster to incorporate a new stop , expanding the Teesport to Doncaster route to incorporate a stop in Elderslie , West Central Scotland .
