A key sponsor has described the “ myth-busting ” potential of the Tees Businesswomen Awards .
Among the category sponsors this year are PD Ports , the largest private employer in the region and statutory harbour authority for the River Tees .
Kirsten Donkin , head of PR , marketing and communications at PD Ports , said : “ We are delighted to be sponsoring the Tees Businesswomen Awards again .
“ This a powerful platform that encourages and celebrates positive female role models across the business community .
“ These awards seek to bust the myths on stereotypes which create misplaced perceptions among young people and risk negatively impacting their personal hopes and career aspirations for the future .
“ Each year shortlisting seems to get harder . But I was encouraged to see new names being put forward which demonstrates the increased visibility of the awards and the positive impact they have on encouraging a wider variety of skilled and talented people to be nominated .”
Durata – Best Newcomer
Middlesbrough-based Durata says it sponsored the Best Newcomer category at the 2021 Tees Businesswomen Awards to help give young women the “ confidence and courage ” to start something new .
Organised by Tees Business , the awards are being held once again in association with Northern Skills Group , the apprenticeship and training arm of Middlesbrough College .
Durata quality director Alison McGee sees the event as the perfect vehicle to not only showcase the achievements of our current female workforce , but to encourage the next generation too .
Alison said : “ The women nominated for Tees Businesswomen Awards in the past have proved to be amazing role models , who raise awareness of opportunities out there and who give young women the confidence and courage they need to start something new .
“ I ’ m confident this will happen again with this year ’ s winners .”
