Scientists from NASA used this expedition to help study the long term effects of staying in space, to further conclude how humans can adapt and live in space. By comparing Kelly up in space, and his twin Mark Kelly on Earth, researchers hope that this will provide enough information for future explorations; perhaps to even set up a human civilization on a planet besides Earth.
