2016: A RECAP

January:
January 6: The blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens shatters the
North American box office; it's amount 2.066 billion USD, surpassing
Avatar’s record.
January 6: California governor Jerry Brown declares a state of
emergency when a methane gas leak in the small community of Porter
Ranch, a suburban area outside of Los Angeles, threatens life. Some
outcomes from the gas leak include sticky brown residue left scattered
around neighborhoods and in various houses.
January 10: David Bowie, a popular British singer and songwriter who
produces music for all ages, sadly dies.
January 13: The most powerful Power ball lottery that had ever taken
place in America was finally sold to three winners. The grand total of
$1.3 billion was divided amongst them.
January 23: A Zika virus outbreak scares countries mainly located near
the equator, such as Colombia and Brazil. Women are very encouraged
to postpone their pregnancies, because of this potentially threatening
event.
February:
February 1: The presidential candidates take the results of the Iowa
caucus: Ted Cruz celebrates his victory after defeating Donald Trump,
while Hillary Clinton wins by a whisker over her opponent Bernie
Sanders.
February 7: The Denver Broncos manage a remarkable win over the
Carolina Panthers at the end of Super Bowl 50, with halftime
performances by Beyonce, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and Mark Ronson.
February 15: Major artists like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran were
featured at the 58th Grammy awards, and made several wins in
categories.
February 28: At the 88th Academy Awards, latest imaged movies go
head to head to win awards from specified categories.
March:
March 2: Scott Kelly and American astronaut, accompanied by Mikhail
Kornienko, a Russian cosmonaut, both came back down to Earth,
