banshee
Banshees are known for their ability to emit
an ear-piercingly loud cry. They are airborne
spirits born out of Irish lore and mythology.
The mere sight of them, according to Irish
tales of old, signifies the demise of a family
member. Unlike other uses of symbolism, the
banshee is not an omen of perishing, but a
harbinger of such. The banshee has no one
distinct appearance as it is a shapeshifter of
sorts, able to manifest itself as a stunningly
attractive beauty, a dainty old hag, or
something in between. No matter the form,
they are always clad in silken robes or
garments Their existence, in a mythological
context, has ties to the underworld, or the
realm of death. Emerging from the depths of
hell, the banshee has one unified goal and
purpose, to notify a family that they are soon
to mourn. How very depressing.
