Inspire Us!

My name is Dana and I am 17 years old. Ever since I could talk, I've loved singing. I'd sing in the shower, at stores in the check out line, in my car, at my house, you name it! Growing up I've always dreamt of becoming a famous singer and performing at concerts and just performing in general. I thought I had potential, but was always too nervous to actually sing for anyone, so I decided to make a few videos. My first videos that i posted on Facebook in 7th grade got a lot of negative comments from people at my school, so I deleted them and didn't post or make videos for a while, but it didn't stop me from singing. When I got to high school in 2012, I knew I wanted to be a part of the choir program. I wanted to make my way to the top 2 highest choirs, Chamber and SSA!

My freshman year I auditioned, but I did not move up and remained in the freshman choir. This knocked down my confidence a bit, however i was a freshman and knew I had time to improve and had other chances to move up. the end of my freshman year, I decided I needed another year of practice, so I did not audition and I remained in the beginners choir, which was still amazing! So my sophomore year, I auditioned to make the higher choirs, however I didn't move up at all. I didn't even make varsity. I was crushed, and absolutely devastated. For a while, I didn't think I wanted to sing ever again. I told myself I was not good enough to be a performer, or to sing in general, however I stayed in choir because I loved the class and the teacher. So my junior year, I had worked harder on my singing and theory than I had ever done before, and at the end of the year, I decided to risk it and audition for the top two choirs.
