Kansas Golf Foundation Announces 2026 Junior Golf Scholarship Recipients
The Kansas Golf Foundation( KGF) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship, the Phil Miller Junior Golf Award, and the Kansas Women’ s Golf Association Memorial Scholarship.
The Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship( KJG) is awarded annually to outstanding Kansas high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, community involvement, and participation in the game of golf. The scholarship provides recipients with $ 10,000 over four years($ 2,500 annually) as they pursue higher education at Kansas colleges and universities.
The 2026 KJG Scholarship recipients are:
● Allison Cure, Goodland High School
● Will Holtzman, Olathe Northwest High School
● Max Farber, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School
● Elise Eckert, Seaman High School
● Gavin Wahl, South Gray High School
These five students were selected from a talented pool of applicants from across Kansas and exemplify the values of hard work, integrity, perseverance, and service that the scholarship seeks to recognize.
In addition to being named a KJG Scholarship recipient, Allison Cure has been selected as the 2026 Phil Miller Junior Golf Award winner. The award honors a junior golfer who demonstrates exceptional character, leadership, dedication to the game, and commitment to their community. Cure distinguished herself through outstanding academic achievement, extensive leadership roles, and remarkable athletic success. A state champion golfer, student body leader, multi-sport athlete, and active community member, she embodies the spirit of the award.
The KGF also recognizes Tyler Deterding as the recipient of the 2026 Kansas Women’ s Golf Association Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship honors a deserving Kansas student who has demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, community service, and golf participation. Deterding earned a 3.94 GPA while competing in golf and basketball, was named Second Team Class 4A All-State in golf, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to service through leadership roles at school and volunteer work within the golf community.
“ The future of golf in Kansas is bright because of young people like these scholarship and award recipients,” said Kansas Golf Foundation Executive Director Wendi Brandt.“ Their achievements both on and off the golf course are a testament to their dedication, character, and commitment to excellence. We are proud to support them as they pursue their educational and professional goals.”

The following are the profiles of the Class of 2026 KJG Scholarship recipients, who are graduating high school seniors in Kansas.
Allison Cure – Goodland High School
Allison Cure graduates from Goodland High School with a 3.99 GPA and plans to attend Fort Hays State University, where she will major in Biology. A standout student-athlete, Cure excelled in golf, basketball, and softball while serving as student body president and vice president of the Girls Athletic Association. She capped her senior golf season by winning the KSHSAA Class 3-2-1A State Championship. She was selected as the 2026 Phil Miller Jr. Golf Award recipient for her leadership, character, and commitment to excellence both on and off the golf course.
Will Holtzman – Olathe Northwest High School
Will Holtzman is a graduate of Olathe Northwest High School who plans to attend the University of Kansas and major in Accounting and Finance. Maintaining a 3.98 GPA, Holtzman distinguished himself academically as an AP Scholar with Distinction while participating in varsity golf, National Honor Society, and community service initiatives. Inspired by watching fellow Kansan Gary Woodland compete on the PGA TOUR, Holtzman developed a passion for golf that helped shape his work ethic, discipline, and future career aspirations.
Max Farber – Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Max Farber graduates from Bishop Carroll Catholic High School and will attend Washburn University to study Finance. A dedicated competitor, Farber participated in numerous junior golf programs, including AJGA and Central Links Golf, while earning First Team All-State honors and helping lead Bishop Carroll to a state championship.
