New 2023 Wedges

Stick-it Tight

by Eddie Hall , Equipment Writer

The 2023 golf season is in full swing , and hopefully , you ’ re getting in plenty of golf rounds . This is the time that we start looking at areas of our game that need some improvement . One of the best areas to look at is the short game and wedges . Wedge clubs offer an excellent opportunity to lower your scores . We are also in an age where everybody wants more distance from their irons , and the golf manufacturers ’ answer has been to strengthen the lofts of the clubs .

It wasn ’ t long ago that a pitching wedge loft was 48 degrees . Some iron sets come with pitching wedges that have lofts as strong as 42 degrees , creating a huge gap between your pitching wedge and the rest of your wedges . Your wedges and the wedges you choose to buy become even more important now . Let ’ s look at some of the current wedge offerings .
Callaway CB and Jaws Wedges
Callaway offers the CB Wedges and the Jaws wedge series . Both wedge lines are offered with lofts as strong as 48 degrees . The CB Wedges are a more forgiving product but still have some of the playability of the Jaws line .
The Jaws line is offered in the Raw Face and the Raw Full-Face Groove wedges . The Raw Face model gives the golfer maximum spin . Callaway brings tungsten technology to a wedge for a more balanced club that offers both feel and control .
The Raw Full-Face Groove model wedge has the very aggressive grooves that extend across the entire face . This design gives confidence at address and groove-to-ball contact on every shot , even if hit on the toe of the club .
Callaway Jaws Raw custom personalization available .
The Jaws line of wedges ( above ) is offered in the following lofts : 48 , 50 , 52 , 54 , 56 , 58 , 60 , and 62 . The Full- Face Groove wedges are offered in 58 and 60 degrees . As you can see , multiple lofts are offered to give the golfer more options in matching their set needs . The CB Wedges retail for $ 159.99 and the Jaws wedges retail at $ 179.99 per club . Men ’ s and women ’ s models are available .
