However, this material makes it possible to build much lighter equipment, without affecting mechanical resistance and offering customers greater load capacity.”
FROM COIL TO FINISHED PRODUCT Scattolini ' s competitiveness also stems from its decision to manage the entire production cycle in-house. " We start with flat sheet metal and coils and carry out the entire process in-house- laser cutting, punching, bending, stamping, welding, painting and final assembly- with the option of supplying fully or partially assembled equipment. In recent years, we have also invested in painting technologies, introducing a new cataphoresis system to improve protection against corrosion and oxidation, and increase product life," Trentin points out. This integrated philosophy allows the company to maintain high quality standards, cut reaction times and guarantee the flexibility required by an increasingly customisation-oriented market.
While maintaining a strong presence in Europe, Scattolini is gradually expanding its operations into the North American market, where the demand for specific conversion projects is constantly growing.
AUTOMATION AS A LEVER FOR COMPETITIVENESS Scattolini ' s technological evolution inevitably involves sheet metal bending, a production step that has become increasingly automated over the years. Today, the production department is entirely equipped with technologies from Warcom, a long-standing Italian manufacturer specialising in press brakes. Scattolini has nine Warcom press brakes- four integrated into robotic cells and five stand-alone type- designed to process components ranging from small parts to long truck beds. " Our range of products is extremely varied," Trentin explains. " We produce components of very different sizes and it would be unthinkable to use a 6-meter press to produce small parts. That ' s why we ' ve set up a department capable of covering all needs thanks to the selection of the most suitable machine for each process." In recent years, the company has also begun a gradual technological renewal, introducing electric press brakes for processes compatible with this technology. " Electric machines guarantee faster cycle times, higher energy efficiency and lower maintenance costs," Trentin says. " Of course, there are limitations related to tonnage and workable thicknesses, which is why we will also continue to use large hydraulic press brakes. For us, it ' s not a question of replacing one technology with another, but using the one best suited to the specific application."
ROBOTS AT THE SERVICE OF PEOPLE For Scattolini, automation is not just a tool for increasing productivity: the goal is above all to improve the working conditions of operators. " We decided to automate the most demanding tasks," Trentin explains. " When the robot
