Numerosi componenti richiedono asole, bugne, deforma-
BENDING AS A TURNING POINT The diversification of its product range, combined whit a careful analysis of production flows, led ILSA to a clear conclusion: the main bottleneck was not laser cutting, but rather the management of its bending operations. The high number of product codes and constant changes in production required operators to carry out numerous tool changes every day, inevitably affecting setup times, production scheduling and the manage urgent orders efficiently. Following an in-depth assessment of the solutions available on the market, ILSA identified the AMADA HG-1003ATC press brake, equipped with an automatic tool changer, as the most effective solution. " The adoption of the HG-1003ATC enabled us to significantly reduce setup times, minimise human error and shorten the learning curve for our operators, making production management much more streamlined." This decision had a significant impact on the organisation of the workshop, allowing ILSA to handle both small batches and frequent urgent orders with greater speed and flexibility.
A SINGLE MACHINE FOR MULTIPLE PROCESSES The introduction of the press brakes was the first step in a broader project involving the sheet metal cutting area. Alongside its 3 kW AMADA ENSIS-3015AJ fibre laser machines, ILSA subsequently installed an EML-2515AJe combination machine, equipped with PDC automatic tool changer and an RMP automatic loading and unloading system, integrated with the new CSII 300 automated warehouse. The system also incorporates laser cutting through the MPF 3015 SII, the LST 3015 pallet changer and an automated infrastructure designed to manage materials in a continuous production cycle. The decision to adopt a combination machine was driven by the specific characteristics of ILSA ' s production. Many components require slots and bosses, forming operations and complex contours, all of which can now be produced in a single cycle thanks to the combination of punching and laser cutting. " For us, the EML was the most suitable solution," continues Della Libera. " The ability to have a wide range of tools readily available and to carry out multiple processes without interrupting the production cycle represents a tangible advantage in a highly diversified production environment like ours ".
AN INTEGRATED ECOSYSTEM Another distinctive aspect of ILSA ' s project is the integration between its management software and production equipment. The ERP system provided by SAP communicates with the MES, which automatically transfers the relevant information to AMADA Order Manager( AOM). Working in conjunction with the VPSS 4ie software, the system generates the machine programmes, enabling production orders to be sent directly to the machines, which then select the required materials and automatically initiate the manufacturing process. This level of integration has eliminated numerous manual operations from the order management process, making production significantly more
