Introduction: Welcome To Week Five of EDU697!
This first edition of "Tech Talk for Teachers" is my re-design project for week six of EDU697, Capstone: A Project Approach. For this week
we were charged with the assignment of redesigning a previous
MATLT activity to incorporate Program Learning Outcome 8 (PLO8) which “demonstrates the ability to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and leadership”. During EDU652 I created a Power Point Presentation, "Survey Monkey, Best Practices: Survey Design" which was done with no particular audience in mind; students, teachers and novices alike could use it.
At first I struggled with integrating technology and learning with leadership; I did not feel any of my previous MATLT activities could respond to or support such a tall order. I fell back on my past career as a training officer in the military to gain a sense of direction. Back then, one of my responsibiities was disseminating information. From there, I thought back over some of the tools I used to get the info out to the masses and one such tool was a printed newsletter that I, along with several other people, prepared and published bi-monthly. For several years the newsletter was printed and mailed, posted and passed out. It is in the spirit of those "old skool" newsletters that I created this magazine which has been designed for sharing information, best practices and ideas about using technology, instructional design, web tools and the Internet to enhance and improve education. So..here it is, ENJOY!
