have a 1:1 classroom, a certain number of iPads, or particular software, though you can put any and all of those things to use as you choose. Blended learning supports existing teaching practices and combines many of the best elements of face-to-face teaching (personalized learning, social interaction and direct contact with the language) while allowing greater variety and flexibility than a traditional classroom set up. ! ! Infrastructure! Supporting a 1:1 ratio of devices in addition to staff computers requires a robust and scalable local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) including a highly capable connection to the Internet. More and more devices are coming online demanding constant Internet connections for sharing documents, streaming digital content and transmitting information. Students will be using a variety of devices including tables, mobile devices and laptops as we move into more of an unknown X:1 environment. Many staff already utilize more than one device while on our campuses (laptop and iPad for example). In order to prepare for this emerging multi-device/platform experience, we need to maintain and adjust available bandwidth and network equipment to support users. In addition, cloud services for operations as well as instruction will also increase the need for reliable bandwidth in the near future. To address these needs, wireless access point will be needed all instructional rooms and additional coverage will be needed in common areas. The pipeline to the Internet must be assessed yearly to check for appropriate capacity and usage. Switching and networking equipment will need to be upgraded to provide the fastest connections. Infrastructure components are not often seen but serve as the critical framework for all digital district operations.! ! Standard Instructional Classroom Equipment Configuration! In the previous Tech Plan, the base classroom configuration (large group instruction areas such as a homeroom) of technology was two desktop computers and a ceiling mounted projector. This configuration no longer meets the needs of the district staff or instructional needs. After discussion with the committee as well as the district tech team, an alternative model focusing on mobility, access and flexibility has been developed to equipment new classroom spaces:!
