Well done to everybody who braved the waters at this year’s Dragon Boat Race at Bewl Water, Kent. We had three fabulous teams taking part – Candy Crusaders (London), A boat full of ‘Randoms’ (Sussex) and Kent Quality Sweets (Kent). Sussex retained their title by beating London and Kent in a head to head race. Thanks to everybody who donated money – a massive £1824.24 was raised for Fresh Visions! We hope you enjoy looking at some of the photographs from a memorable day… World’s biggest coffee morning! Congratulations to Amy Thompson, Hannah Thompson and Lola Oyewusi who organised a fantastic coffee morning at Grosvenor House! They held a great AmicusHorizon bake off (won by Mabel Dias) and a fantastic raffle, raising £508 for Macmillan cancer charity. Trip to The Jungle Daniel Hewitt, Housing Officer Hastings, helped raise nearly £120 for the same cause too. A number of sweet treats were provided at the Chiltern Drive office and there was even a ‘guess the number of hundreds and thousands on a cake’ sweepstake! Items are being collected to deliver across to refugees and asylum seekers in the Calais camp, known as ‘The Jungle’. Angela Hastings and Mel Sorrel, Sussex Housing Officers, will be driving to France on 5 November – working with established aid agencies. The items they require are: Warm wet weather coat/ jackets, blankets, shampoo, tins of food (non pork), shoes/trainers (size 7 to 10), sleeping bags, soaps, joggers of all sizes, tents, toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, saucepans, tin openers, nappies and wet wipes.
