Going for Gold at the
Dragon Boat Race!
Well done to everybody who braved the waters at
this year’s Dragon Boat Race at Bewl Water, Kent.
We had three fabulous teams taking part – Candy
Crusaders (London), A boat full of ‘Randoms’
(Sussex) and Kent Quality Sweets (Kent).
Sussex retained their title by beating London
and Kent in a head to head race.
Thanks to everybody who donated money – a
massive £1824.24 was raised for Fresh Visions!
We hope you enjoy looking at some of the
photographs from a memorable day…
World’s biggest coffee
morning!
Congratulations to Amy Thompson, Hannah
Thompson and Lola Oyewusi who organised a
fantastic coffee morning at Grosvenor House!
They held a great AmicusHorizon bake off (won
by Mabel Dias) and a fantastic raffle, raising
£508 for Macmillan cancer charity.
Trip to The Jungle
Daniel Hewitt, Housing Officer Hastings, helped
raise nearly £120 for the same cause too. A
number of sweet treats were provided at the
Chiltern Drive office and there was even a
‘guess the number of hundreds and thousands
on a cake’ sweepstake!
Items are being collected to deliver across to
refugees and asylum seekers in the Calais camp,
known as ‘The Jungle’.
Angela Hastings and Mel Sorrel, Sussex Housing
Officers, will be driving to France on 5 November –
working with established aid agencies.
The items they require are: Warm wet weather coat/
jackets, blankets, shampoo, tins of food (non pork),
shoes/trainers (size 7 to 10), sleeping bags, soaps,
joggers of all sizes, tents, toothpaste, toothbrushes,
socks, saucepans, tin openers, nappies and wet
wipes.
If you’ve any items to donate, please contact
Angela Hastings or Joyce Rook.
