Holidays & Annual Closing 301
Effective Date : 04 / 01 / 2019 Revised Effective : 03 / 01 / 2020
Observed Holidays
Due to the nature of our business , we do not close our facilities on many traditionally recognized holidays . As a result , for most positions , we have two different categories of holidays ( the Administrative Department may observe a different holiday practice ):
Non-working Holidays :
• New Year ’ s Day ( January 1 )
• Thanksgiving
• Christmas Eve ( December 24 )
• Christmas Day ( December 25 )
Working Holidays
• Easter
• Mother ’ s Day
• Memorial Day ( last Monday in May )
• Father ’ s Day
• Independence Day ( July 4 )
• Labor Day ( first Monday in September )
We are officially closed on non-working holidays , and regular full-time Team Members will receive pay for eight hours on those days . With the exception of pre-approved paid time off , in most cases , Team Members will be expected to work both their normally scheduled days before and after the holiday in order to be eligible for eight hours on holiday pay . Calling in sick or taking unpaid time on either of those days may jeopardize a Team Member ’ s ability to be paid for the holiday . If a recognized holiday falls during an eligible Team Member ’ s paid absence ( such as vacation or PTO ), holiday pay will be provided instead of the paid time off benefit that would otherwise have applied . However , Team Members taking unpaid leaves of absence will not be paid for holidays that occur during their unpaid leaves .
Nonexempt regular full-time Team Members who work on a working holiday will be paid time and a half . Exempt regular full-time Team Members who work on a working holiday will be given the option of choosing an alternate day off with approval from their manager . Any such alternate days off not used by the end of the fiscal year will be forfeited .
Unless work is actually performed on a holiday , holiday hours will not be counted as hours worked for the purposes of determining whether nonexempt Team Members are entitled to overtime for the week in which the holiday falls .
Pre and Post Season Pauses
We pause operations and close the Club for a period of time before and after the golf season to recharge and complete annual maintenance and cleaning . Typically , the fall pause is the five days following Thanksgiving and the spring pause is seven to ten days in mid to late March . All regular full-time and part-time hourly team members impacted by the fall pause will be paid up for their typical hours during that time . If your department is not operational during the spring
