23. Methodology
Methodology is a system of
practices and procedures
that a teacher uses to teach.
It will be based on beliefs
about
the
nature
of
language, and how it is
learnt
(known
as
'Approach').
A
system
of
broad
principles or rules from
which specific methods or
procedures may be derived
to interpret or solve
different problems within
the scope of a particular
discipline.
Unlike
an
algorithm, a methodology
is not a formula but a set of
practices.
Reflection:
Methodology is important
at the moment of teaching
a class. Every class is
important and different in
its own way, so are
students; who usually don’t
have the same prior
knowledge, so the teacher
has
to
apply
a
methodology
that
can
include every student in his
class, trying to make them
to learn without exclude
them.
The methodologies that are
usually
used
at
the
moment of teaching a class
are the direct method that
helps students to practice
their English. Another
methodology
is
the
grammar translation that
gives more vocabulary to
the students.
