12. Teaching Experiences
Reflection:
Teaching seems pretty easy
from the point of view of
students,
but
at
the
moment of being in front
of 40 people or more, we
realized that we’re not that
confident to give a class,
and sometimes when our
students make us questions
we give them the wrong
answer. This is what
happened to me on one of
the first days I went to the
teaching practice. I work
with
a
high
school
students, specifically the
ones who are on their
second
year;
at
the
beginning
I
felt
intimidated by why they
would think about me, if
they would see me and
respect me as their teacher,
if they would respect me at
the moment of giving the
class.
It’s my first experience
giving classes and to be
honest I felt really proud of
myself the first time they
called
me
“teacher”
(considering I look even
younger than some of
them). Because they’re
teens from 15 – 19 years,
it’s hard to find a
methodology that won’t get
them bored during the
class, and of course they
can learn a lot. It depends
from
the
teacher
if
students pay attention or
not to him, he as teacher
has to make use of visuals,
audios, books and give the
class in a deductive way
and motivate them to learn
English by themselves with
music, reading magazines,
or a book.
