Tableaux

4) The class will be split into 4 groups.

- 2 groups will come up with tableaux that portray bullying

and

- 2 groups will come up with tableaux that portray friendship

* Every member of the group must be involved in the tableaux with the exception of 1 member from each group who will be appointed the narrator.

- Take 10 minutes to rehearse your tableaux. The narrators will read and present the lines from the poem that their group is portraying in their tableaux.

* Narrators must practice saying their lines of the poem with the appropriate feeling/ sentiment.

5) The groups will be paired up (1 bully group and 1 friends group) and they will perform their tableaux and the poem to the other groups.

Things to remember about tableaux...

a. A tableaus is like a frozen picture that shows situations, emotions, and ideas.

b. It is important to maintain eye focus and facial expressions in a tableau, and that they match the emotions in the situation.

c. A tableau captures a moment in time, when movement is arrested - frozen - like a photograph.

Coffee House Open Mike

6) The students will publish their poems and rehurse delivering them in front of a group.

- When they are prepared, the students will perform their poems in front of a younger grade/ class of students, or for their parents at a stuendt coffee house open mike event.
