ASHA ALEXANDER-LEADING SCHOOLS AND BUILDING A LASTING LEGACY

Asha Alexander is Principal at GEMS Legacy School , Dubai , and Executive Leader of Climate Change at GEMS Education . She received her Master of Science in Educational Leadership from The Walden University , Minnesota in 2011 . She holds Masters ’ degrees in Education as well as English from the Bangalore University , India . With 33 years of experience in the provision of education to K-12 students , she has overseen the school ’ s transition to an exclusively digital curriculum .

Ms . Alexander is a UN certified Climate Change Leader and has made presentations at COP 25 , the UNESCO World Conference in Berlin , on Educating for Sustainable Development Goals and numerous international webinars and conferences . She has also conducted workshops on leadership and change management , for several schools in India and the UAE . She has led the GEMS Global Ambassadors Program that engages schools in twinning projects worldwide , with more than 45 schools , in enabling teachers , students and schools to develop partnerships to embed the Sustainable Development Goals . Tell us a little bit about you ; your background , where you grew up ? Where you went to school ?
I was born in India , in a state called Kerala right down at the southernmost tip of India . I was brought up in Bangalore , which is in Karnataka . I went to school there . I pretty much did my schooling and my college and my university in Bangalore . I was at Bishop Cotton Girls High School and then Mount Carmel College in
