I enjoy keeping fit and healthy
because I think it’s really important for
my job. I believe that the healthier I am
in my life outside of school the better I
will be at work. Each day, I try to do as
much varied exercise as possible. Two
main things that I do are, I play squash
against my friends. We make it fun by
playing for a trophy that we invented
ourselves. I run on the thread mill in the
summer and around the marina when
it’s cooler. I also try to eat healthy, so I
spend a lot of time choosing fresh fruits
to include in my diet.
I do quite a number of things to stay
fit and healthy. As well as having a
healthy diet, I run a staff hula-hooping
club at school. We learn how to hulahoop and practise tricks with the hoop
to music. It’s an enjoyable way to stay
active and because it is in school at the
end of the school day, it is convenient
for everyone. I also do boot camp in
Safa Park twice a week.
To stay healthy as a busy educator,
I am a keen runner; I’m currently
training for my second half marathon.
Alongside that, I do a lot of yoga.
We run a children’s yoga class at the
school, which I help out with alongside
Phoenix Rising. I do a lot of yoga in
my own time too because it’s an
excellent way to de-stress. I also try to
sleep well.

To stay fit, I run three times a week,
twice in the morning at 5am and once
on the weekend. I also try and eat
healthily. I have fruit every day.
Through prayer, meditation and
reflection, I gain the peace of mind that
I need to be the best teacher for my
students in the UAE. I take care of the
rest of my spiritual, physical and mental
needs through reading, running, yoga,
eating healthy and acupuncture.
To stay healthy in the UAE, I try to
avoid salty food and keep active. By
this I mean taking the stairs instead of
the lift or escalator. I try to visit the gym
three or four times a week. I don’t do so
well with the latter.
