PROJECTS DURING THE ARTSAKH BLOCKADE
The resilience of our Program and the communities we serve was particularly evident in 2023 , especially in the Artsakh region , where Teacher-Leaders , students , schools , and communities faced significant challenges due to the blockade imposed by Azerbaijan . Despite these obstacles , our Teacher-Leaders continued to deliver impactful and innovative projects .
Another eighth-generation Teacher- Leader , Anush Babayan , demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of the blockade with her Student-Led Innovation Project , “ Mathmix .” Implemented in Khnushinak village , the project aimed to make mathematics more engaging through student-created comic books .
One remarkable project was the “ Art for Art ” Student-Led Innovation Project led by eighth-generation Teacher-Leader Samvel Tavadyan in Mets Shen village . This project introduced students to the works of notable artists such as Martiros Saryan , Henri Matisse , Pablo Picasso , Kazimir Malevich , and Minas Avetisyan . Students developed their artistic skills by experimenting with color techniques and creating paintings . The project was primarily student-driven , with materials sourced from the local community . The students produced 20 paintings and organized an exhibit at their school with the support of their principal . Despite starting later than planned due to the blockade , the project was completed successfully and met its objectives , fostering teamwork , self-expression , and personal growth among the students .
