SELECTION
The ninth cohort of Teacher-Leaders was chosen through three distinct pathways : the General Pathway , the STEM Scholarship Pathway , and the In-Service Teachers Pathway . Despite the different recruitment routes , all candidates are evaluated using the same rigorous criteria to ensure they are well-suited to become Teacher-Leaders . Key criteria include a demonstrated commitment to overcoming challenges while upholding our core values of compassion , innovation , continuous learning , and humility . Out of 1,600 applications , 69 individuals were selected to join our summer Teacher Leadership Academy . 2
● General Pathway : This pathway targets recent university graduates for the Teacher Leadership Program . Of the 235 applicants , 101 were invited to participate in a five-week Pre-Service Course preceding the Teacher Leadership Academy . The selection process , conducted from October 2022 to June 2023 , resulted in 44 recruits , including three participants from the Armenian Diaspora — Lebanon , Iran , and Russia .
● STEM Scholarship Pathway : This pathway provides scholarships for the final year of study to STEM ( Science , Technology , Engineering , and Mathematics ) students who commit to joining our program upon graduation . The Selection Team began this process earlier than usual in October 2022 . By January 2024 , six STEM scholarship recipients were selected from 15 candidates , including three from Artsakh University .
● In-Service Teacher Pathway : This pathway recruits current teachers from rural schools who continue teaching while joining our program . Recruitment involved visiting major cities across Armenia and Artsakh to present the Teacher Leadership Program in person . Out of 128 applicants , 29 in-service teachers were selected for the ninth cohort .
In 2023 , we introduced community visits as part of the Pre-Service Course . This initiative allowed potential
