DEVELOPMENT
Our work supporting students in Armenia and Artsakh is made possible by the generous contributions from our global community of supporters . In 2023 , Teach For Armenia raised a total of $ 4,470,171 through our Armenia-based Teach For Armenia Educational Foundation and our U . S . -based 501 ( c )( 3 ) partner , Friends of Teach For Armenia . This funding , sourced from individuals , foundations , corporations , and government entities , is crucial for advancing our mission .
NOTABLE CONTRIBUTIONS
In 2023 , long-time supporters Elie and Ela Akilian committed to sponsoring the Teacher Leader Academy , our summer training program for new recruits , for the next three years . Additionally , board members Sam and Sylva Simonian became Regional Sponsors for our operations in the Shirak region for the next three years . We are also thrilled to announce that HSBC Bank Armenia CJSC funded a prototype project through our Kaits Social Innovation Incubator , and the Armenian Missionary Association of America ( AMAA ) renewed their support for our Seroond Program in Stepanavan .
Moreover , Teach For Armenia secured three grants through the global Teach For All network : the Future of Education Fund , the Go Teach Partnership with Deutsche Post DHL ( DPDHL ), and the Let Girls Thrive Fund . These grants support initiatives to strengthen education systems , prepare students for future careers , and empower girls .
CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGNS
To mark the start of the academic year on September 1 , 2023 , we partnered with Ground Zero Specialty Coffee Shop in Yerevan for a crowdfunding campaign , with 25 % of the day ’ s earnings donated to Teach For Armenia . Other successful crowdfunding partnerships included Toon-Art , which sells student-created art , and Imast , an app that supports Armenia-based nonprofits in the U . S .
